2010 Lecture Series on Autism Spectrum Disorders

The University Center for Autism and Neurodevelopment (UCAN) team, The Lili ClaireFoundation and Renown Hospital are pleased to present a series of lectures to promoteeducation on varying components of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). This includes Autism, Asperger’s Disorder and Pervasive Developmental Disorder, Not Otherwise Specified. Lectures are free to parents and professionals but prior registration is required. 

Lectures will be held on the second Tuesday of each month from 6:30pm to 8:00pm. One hour lecture followed by a half hour question and answer session.Renown Hospital, 1155 Mill Street Reno, NV 89502 in the MAC Auditorium.

March 9th Floortime/DIR therapy model and ASD

April 13th Language and ASD

May 11th Individualized Education Plans and ASD

June 8th Medical components of ASD

August 10th Comorbidity and ASD (The presence of other disorders in conjunction with ASD)

Sept 14th Sensory Integration and ASDOctober 12th How ASD effects the family dynamic (siblings, parental and marital stressors)

November 9th Education on different therapies related to ASD (Hanen, ABA, etc.)

December 14th Challenging behaviors and ASD

Through a Father’s Eyes

The Lili Claire Foundation would like to invite all fathers of children with disabilities to join us for a “dad’s only” discussion of family and community needs for parenting a child with a disability. Topics will center on what tools fathers feel they need in order to enable them to be better teachers, coaches and leaders in their special families.

 

When: Feb. 2nd, March 2nd and April 6th from 6:30 to 8:00pm

 

Where: Renown Hospital, 1155 Mill Street Reno, NV 89502 in the Cafeteria classroom. Located on the first floor of the Sierra Tower, inside the Sierra Café. Parking is available in the main garage accessed via Mill Street or in Lot A off Kirman.
