September 26, 2012 5:30 - 7:30 P.M. Removing the Barriers for Students with Aspergers Syndrome & Related Disorders
Students with Asperger Syndrome and related impairments can present with real strengths including above average intelligence. Sometimes this can mislead school staff and parents believing students should function differently than they do. This seminar will focus on practical strategies to allow school professionals and parents to identify the needs of their students/children with Asperger Syndrome and outline specific ways to help them succeed at school. Presenters will share a procedure and corresponding forms for functionally assessing barriers and identifying appropriate solutions to help students right away. Additionally, an essential assistive technology toolkit will be described for helping this population. Presenters: Teru Langsdale and Keri Huddleston are Speech Language Pathologists and nationally recognized speakers in educational programming for Asperger Syndrome and related conditions. |
